UK Drivers' Misconceptions on Electric Vehicles Persist
A study by EV Charger Installation indicates that many UK drivers are skeptical about electric vehicles (EVs), with 88% holding misconceptions about performance, charging, and environmental impact. Despite a 45% increase in charging points, 73% believe there are insufficient stations. While half think EVs are unsuitable for long journeys, modern models can travel an average of 300 miles. Cost remains a concern, despite lower long-term expenses. Millennials show a 62% interest in EVs due to environmental and cost benefits, contrasting with only 14% of those over 60. The study debunks myths about charging infrastructure, battery disposal, and grid impact, showing that the UK has over 30,000 public charging points and that EVs would only increase grid demand by 10%. Over 80% would consider EVs with more affordable second-hand options. Education is key to bridging the perception gap and supporting the UK's transition to electric vehicles, says Marc Dal Cin, Founder of EV Charger Installation.
